The following combination has worked
eclipse-SDK-3.0.1-linux-gtk.zip
eclipseUML_E301_freeEdition_2.0.0.beta..jar

Then I changed the free edition for eclipseUML_E301_studioEdition_1.1.0.20041125.jar
This seems to work too, but when I want to generate code, there was no code.
With the free edition I got code, so I replaced the studio edition with the free edition.
But now the UML section in the eclipse preferences, will not start.
So finally I installed the studio edition again, and the UML section in the eclipse
preferences responded normally. But the lack code generation persists.

In the //eclipse/.metadata/.log file I saw a message like this :
Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: J2SE 1.5 parser not implemented yet
But I work with SUN's J2EE, which has java 1.4 onboard.

Can someone help me with this ?

I have found the problem:
The studio edition eclipseUML_E301_studioEdition_1.1.0.20041125.jar
works with version 2.0.1 of emf + xsd.
I had the version 2.1.0 installed, so both versions existed, which give the problem.
