Hello Ilja,
EclipseUML Enterprise Edition will be free for universities, training, non profit organisations or open source projects, evaluation and personal use. We have many new functions inside the Enterprise Edition and it will be available in about three months.
Many users are asking why the Enterprise Edition is still not available?
The three main reasons are:
- many new functions will be available (all these functions are not in the features chart because we prefer to announce them just before the official Enterprise launch. Sorry, this is a marketing issue )
- we did not hire new developers as expected because of the software financial troubles and preferred to secure our good financial situation
- IBM acquisition of Rational changed our software strategy, we needed to readapt our Enterprise functions.

Thanks for the information. I must say I really like the policy that the enterprise edition will be free for non-profit organizations, this is a type of license other software deverlopers should use as well

Hello George,
We will provide a beta version of the Enterprise Edition in about two/three months. Concerning Rational and IBM, I do not understand the point. Rational is only WSAD and do not have an Eclipse solution. Eclipse is composed by board members and could not just be considered like an IBM extension. Finally we have many other competitors Rational XDE is a great UML solution and we will honoured to compete (not just on pricing). Do not forget that Omondo is IBM partnerworld developer member and is or will be fully integrated with other IBM/Rational tools.
Another important marketing positionning is that EclipseUML is for Java developers and Rational is for corporate development suite of tools.
EclipseUML Free Edition is the leading UML plugin for Eclipse with more than 30.000 regular users.

Hello George,
Sorry for the delay, but you will have to wait few weeks .
We have many new functions such J2EE, data modeling, CVS integration and team work, class and sequence diagram reverse engineering etc...
We are using more than 20 different open source projects and need to control everythink. Unfortunately some were not good enough for a commercial solution. We needed to improve it and will then contribute to the open source community.
Be patient, Enterprise Edition is coming soon, and it is worth waiting.
